Hello,

I have been maintaining the SW Media Info text and much to my demise, PasteBin has removed the updated text once again. This is not the first occurrence, as several revisions after the last update is constantly removed.

Last available update: http://pastebin.com/cH8CYbAy

That being said, I have been keeping a local copy as backup. So, where should I house the text from now on?

Weird, how is it getting taken down, by reports?
>> No. 6700 ID: b55fe5
Oh, hey, it's you. I had a suspicion this would happen.

You could probably get a free dns (didn't you use swmediainfo.zsh.jp for a while?) and host the text in any free webhost.

Couldn't OP post it here and make new posts when they update it?
>> No. 6704 ID: f58158
Hi, sorry guys. I'm on a trip now. Merry Christmas by the way.

>>6699
Not that I know of, but I assume it is.
It is taken down rather fast, usually in a day after the link was posted.

>>6700
I did in the past, but it was on Google Drive. I believe Google indexes Google Drive?
Webhost wise, I did sign up for a free one some time ago. Would reconsider this setup.

>>6701
The whole content of the paste, every time it gets updated?
>> No. 6705 ID: ea99e2
If I wasn't so bad at being an admin, I would just give you access to the site and let you upload the file.

Maybe I could change one of the boards to allow the uploading of .txt files.

You could use dropbox. Public dropbox folders won't get indexed, no matter what. They still offer public folder functionality for new accounts, although it is kind of hidden.

While you're at it, could you allow swf?

There's plenty of SW flashes and it's impossible to post them in the /a/ threads. Would be nice to have a SWF thread here in helma.
>> No. 6708 ID: ea99e2
>>6707

Well, there's the old /up/ section of the board, which pretty much nobody knows about.

http://helma.us/up/

I've kept it hidden for ages though because I was afraid that the swfs would get hotlinked to oblivion and make the site reach it's bandwidth limit.
>> No. 6709 ID: ea99e2
Another problem is that I can't increase the file size limit.
>> No. 6710 ID: b55fe5
>>6708
Awesome!

>would get hotlinked to oblivion and make the site reach it's bandwidth limit.
Heh, that's a very real possibility. Can you make them require helma.us referer? That would stop any hotlinking.

I tested the /up/ board a bit, seems like reflinkpreviews throw a php error of some kind.

All functionality seems to be okay for both inter-thread and in-thread links, it's just a visible error message.
>> No. 6713 ID: ea99e2
>>6710
No idea how to do that, so I'm not going to worry too much about it for now.

>>6712
That's kind of weird, I don't see an error on my end. I guess I'll take a look into it, but I probably won't be able to fix anything.

I find it a hassle to sign in every 90 days for Dropbox, or risk having all files deleted.

>>6713
If you are using CPanel, I believe there is a link to prevent hotlinking of certain filetypes?

>hotlinking
Helma.us seems to be running apache. If it has mod_rewrite enabled, .htaccess files are a simple way to prevent hotlinking. For example:
>RewriteEngine on
>RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
>RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http(s)?://(www\.)?helma.us [NC]
>RewriteRule \.(swf)$ - [NC,F,L]
The second line allows blank referers. The third line allows any helma.us referers. The last line sets filetypes (.swf in this example) and shows nothing when someone tries to hotlink them.

If you want, you could show some kind of "no hotlinking allowed" thing instead of nothing, eg:
>RewriteRule \.(swf)$ http://www.helma.us/hotlink.png [NC,F,L]

>/up/ errors
I get that warning on www.helma.us/up/ and "something went wrong (blank response)" on helma.us/up/. The latter could be caused by my browser settings, but the php warning has to be coming from the server.

If you have dropbox client installed somewhere (say, on the PC where you have the local backup copy of the pasta), that takes care of it while also automatically uploading any updates you make to the pasta.
(The dropbox client isn't too bloated - it takes a few seconds of CPU time at startup, absolutely none while idle, immeasurably small amount while syncing files, no unnecessary network traffic, but it has a memory footprint of around 80 MB)

But if you don't want any of that, there are plenty of free proper webhosts you could use instead.

That's a lot of information, thanks.

>But if you don't want any of that, there are plenty of free proper webhosts you could use instead.
I decided to go with a free host which I've been experimenting with, which is HelioHost.

For the moment, I've made the paste into a HTML file, with some minor styles and a simple linkifier.

Thanks, I'll see what I can do.

The 501st JFW OA radio hasn't been updated for sometime so I'm thinking of uploading the rest on some hosts. I wonder where can I post the link?
Sorry for my bad english.
>> No. 6750 ID: 3228bd

You can post it here, and I will update it accordingly
>> No. 6759 ID: 0c2e89
you should make a gist at https://gist.github.com/

All right then, here is the link:
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/1fawin1y3mxy9
I found a better version of the radio, the current is 96kbp & the one I found is 128kbp. You can listen for yourself
96kbp: www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/24675207
128kbp: http://www.nicovideo.jp/mylist/24072945
I will update the better version when I have time, now gotta finish the most up-to-date one.
>>6759
There is just 1 link though... I'm not even sure if anyone is bother to listen.
>> No. 6765 ID: fbb66c

The links has been added to the paste. Thank you very much for your contribution.

To be honest, I rarely drop by here. You'll probably get a faster response from love threads in 4chan.
>> No. 6766 ID: b55fe5
>>6765
Well, Helma is eternal (right? right?) so the stuff is here to stay, unlike 4chan's fleeting threads.
>> No. 6767 ID: ea259a
>>6766
Yes, I prefer here to 4chan, don't really know why.
>> No. 6769 ID: d26520

>>6767
Long live Helma! It's just that I lurk in 4chan more than I do here, and therefore, it might be easier to find me there.

Wouldn't want to leave the paste and people hanging.

Regardless, thanks for letting me know, and I will look into here more often to catch the updates.
